In a gender equality event held by an organisation supporting those in the financial sector, lawyer Cherie Booth said that it would be wrong for global businesses to ignore women in the workplace as they have been observed to show valuable qualities that can help during difficult times.
Booth, the wife of former prime minister Tony Blair, talked to 200 Pro-Manchester members, where she commented that women should be working with men to move in the equality stakes and achieve success.
She did, however, note that in her opinion women can’t have it all, but can make compromises within their home and professional lives which will still enable them to achieve a successful career.
In addition, Booth said women should still be working towards ‘breaking the glass ceiling’ for future generations of women.
Head of diversity Craig Jones, from Barclays Wealth, which sponsored the event said: Equality and diversity is essential to achieving business success. Barclays Wealth firmly believes only a diverse workforce can flourish in the 21st century and encouraging the success of women is a priority for our businesses.’
