What was your first pay cheque?

£8 paid in cash as a fork lift truck driver.

What did you spend it on?

It all went on some new clothes and a night out on the town.

Dining out or entertaining at home?

Entertaining at home, as most restaurants still do not cater very well for us ‘veggies’.

Most expensive thing ever bought?

Aside from my business it would be my Mercedes - my excuse was I needed a comfortable car to travel in for business meetings.

Best bargain ever had?

My business! I could not have imagined 10 years ago what great value for money it would turn out to be.

One luxury you’re going without during the credit crunch?

Business class travel.

Best money-saving tip?

Look out for voucher codes online for shops and restaurants.

One thing you shouldn’t buy but always do?

I wouldn't want to say I am always buying fine wine, but it certainly happens more often than I intend...

Your favourite currency and why?

Indian rupees – one of the few currencies that still goes a long way.

Best way of spending money on a rainy day is…

Renting your favourite DVD.
